Jacqueline Gens' intimate knowledge of Tibetan poetry, scripture, history, as well as her personal and professional relation with the late " BEAT " Poet, Allen Ginsberg, created an open system and ambiance of a highly creative and inspiring environment. Her inclusive and playful passion for the “written word" was contagious and fun to be a part of. It brought back for this "boomer" a sense of the Renaissance of the 60's and 70's, that some of us were so fortunate to experience.
I was in a year-long workshop with Jacqueline. I can say with no hesitation that she is a wonderful workshop leader and insightful critic. She always brought provocative new writing to the class and her critiques of my work were always useful and supportive. Most importantly, I felt listened to and as a result I was able to listen to my own writing with a new ear.
